Let Me Be Frank… 3-11-20

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:5
We were visiting John and Julie Bridges a week ago and I saw this sign in their room.  I was blown away by the powerful simplicity of the statement and loved that this sign was one of the first things that John sees each morning as he wakes up.  John is a fighter.  He is a warrior.  But, just like everyone else, there are times of doubt for him as he battles on.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12
Jesus illuminates our darkness.  When we inhale light we are asking Him to light up those dark spaces of doubt and fear.  And, as He lights up those spaces, we become the light of the world that Don spoke about a couple of weeks ago.
The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
Job 33:4
“The breath of the Almighty gives me life.”  Quick experiment…  hold your breath for a few minutes…  I’ll wait.
It didn’t take long for you to realize your need for air.  But what you breathe in makes a huge difference.  So, what are you breathing in?
For every inhale there must be an exhale.  We breathe in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide.  Funny thing…  carbon dioxide is a waste product.  If we couldn’t get it out of our bloodstream it would take up all the space needed for oxygen to get to the rest of our body.  We have to get rid of it.
Are you tired from the battle?  Are you fighting, but you’re not quite sure how it will all turn out?  Is the darkness coming?  Is it taking up more and more space?
Inhale light.  Jesus Christ is our Savior.  We were not meant to go through this world alone.  Let Him illuminate your darkness.  Exhale doubt.  Doubts will come but they don’t have to rule your heart.  Breathe them out as you make more space for the Light of the world!
We are Central… and we’re in this TOGETHER!
