Let Me Be Frank… 7-24-19

START.  Don’t wait for the right time.  Don’t hope for the ideal conditions.  Just start.

Type the first sentence.  Make your bed.  Complete an easy task.  Get your running shoes on.  Do something nice for someone.  Open your Bible.  Pray.

And then momentum kicks in.  The first sentence leads to more.  The made bed leads to grabbing a few clothes off the floor.  Completing the easy task gives you the mindset to attack the difficult one.  Exercise today gives you hope that you can do the same tomorrow.

And then we encourage someone with a smile and we feel better.  How does that work, exactly?  And then we start a Bible reading plan and look forward to the next day and the day after.  And then we pray…

Prayer is a relationship.

It’s more than a few words at mealtime.  It’s deeper than, “Can I talk to you about this for a minute.”  It’s different than, “I need you to do this for me.”

The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in His Temple.
Psalm 27:4

What would change if the one thing we asked of Him
was to simply be with Him?

You want to jump start your prayer life?  Do you need a change of heart?  Do you want to be confident in who God has called you to be and what He has called you to do?  Do you want to know what God has called you to do?

Try a little momentum.  Spend some time with Him in prayer.  Grab a cup of coffee (or lavender tea) and spend some time in His Holy Word.  Wait, in silence, for the Lord to speak.  We trust God to the degree that we know God.  And as we draw near to the Lord, He will draw near to us.

Prayer is a lifelong dialogue with our Creator.  It is listening and confessing, moving and waiting, and submission and obedience all wrapped up into one.  When we pray, God is able to soften our hearts and reveal His heart to us in the process.  If you are nervous about how to pray (or what to pray) just start praying.

What would change if the one thing we asked of Him was to simply be with Him?

Praying our Heavenly Father meets you in a POWERFUL WAY this week!

We are Central… and we’re in this TOGETHER!
