“The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul…The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes…The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.” (Psalm 19:7,8,9)
 
God’s work on earth has a LOT to do with the people of God THINKING well. Don’t get me wrong…FAITH is absolutely essential. “Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.” But some might see conflicts or difficulties in their life and dismiss them by saying, “Just gotta have more faith.” I think God wants us to THINK clearly too!
 
It’s so easy to HEAR opinions and GIVE opinions these days. I love that Social Media gives us the opportunity to share and engage others with ideas. But is our THINKING based on “opinions”…or is it based on God’s Word? Are our opinions based on FEELINGS…or what God has consistently said? Dallas Willard once wrote, “To bring the mind to dwell intelligently upon God as presented in His Word will cause us to love God passionately, and this love will bring us to think of God steadily. Thus God will always be before our mind.” I love that thought! THINK ON HIM!
 
Paul tells us in Philippians, “Whatever is true…honorable…just..pure…THINK on these things!” Then why is it that lately all we ever THINK about is the bad stuff? The virus. The Riots. My Rights. The election. Why do these things take up all of our THINKING??
 
I find myself often talking to friends that are sick and saying, “I hope you feel better.”  I mean that. I want their bodies to heal and FEEL less pain. But maybe we should have a different thing to say. I pray this week that you THINK better. I pray you THINK on His Laws-how perfect they are and how they refresh our souls! I pray you THINK about His Commands-and how they give light to where we are headed and what we should do. I pray you hear Paul’s words and THINK about things that are pure and noble and true and commendable…and that it draws you into a closer relationship with our Heavenly Father!
 
So here’s the question:
How are you THINKING this week?
 
Precious Father…hear our thoughts and our prayers & give us CLEAR THINKING! May we THINK on You, focus on You…and look more like Your Son, Jesus! And may that THINKING change our actions. IN the name of my Brother Jesus, Amen.
